only search Landfall

Harbour Islandís closest airport is North Eleuthera (Airport Code: ELH)  on the northern end of Eleuthera.  Briland, as it is affectionately called, is a couple of miles away across the bay.  From there it is a short taxi ride to Landfall.(Click here for Google Maps directions)Alternatively you can fly to Governorís Harbour in the middle of Eluthera which is a further hourís taxi ride away. Once you step into the water taxi youíll notice how your cares and the outside world slip away.  When you arrive at Governorís Dock on Harbour Island youíll already be in an island state of mind.  Relax. Enjoy.

Three steps to paradise

Ferry from Nassau to Harbour Island

One way of getting to Harbour Island is with the high speed ferry, the Bo Hengy, with Bahamas Fast Ferries (242 323 2166) which is a pleasant and very stable 2 hour journey from Nassauís Paradise Island.  Paradise Island is about 40 minutes taxi ride from Nassau airport and the ferry leaves at 8am.  The dock is minutes away from the Atlantis hotel enabling you to combine a nightís stay at that famous resort.  2 trips a day for part of the year, but only one for the rest.

There are direct flights North Eleuthera from Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Nassau. Various airlines and charter services serve all three routes.

Miami and Ft. Lauderdale To North Eleuthera (ELH) (flying time 75 minutes)
Continental Airlines flies a medium sized turboprop directly from Miami and Fort Lauderdale daily through Gulfstream Airlines and US Airways and American Eagle provide flights depending on the season.   A number of charter services ply the way from Fort Lauderdale to North Eleuthera.   Twin Air  (954) 359-8266) flies a smaller twin prop daily from their offices on the airport and also takes cargo.  It is a useful and less costly alternative.  Ensure that you print the directions to their building as, although still within the airport perimeter, it is 10 minutes taxi ride from the main terminal.  The return flight is to the charter terminal (a different place again), where a taxi can be obtained swiftly to take you back to the main terminal.   Customs and passport control is at the destination airport.  North Eleuthera is swift, but Miami and Fort Lauderdale can be interminable if large planes have disengorged their passengers just before you.   The charter customs is always quick.
Nassau to North Eleuthera (flying time 20 minutes)
A pleasant alternative for those who prefer a shorter journey in a propeller aircraft is to fly to Nassau (for example, with Jet Blue) and take the very short, scenic flight to North Eleuthera.
Southern Air currently is less costly and  operates flights at 7:00 a.m, 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., 242 377 2014.   Bahamas air has flights at similar times, (1 800 222 4262).  Charters are available too.  If you have a slightly longer lay over then take a taxi to the Compass Point restaurant (1-(866)-431-2874) for a buffet lunch on the ocean (about 15 minutes taxi ride away).  Be sure to tell the airline check-in personnel where youíre going and leave a phone number, because if all passengers are ready they like to leave early!   Allow sufficient time to pass through Bahamian customs on arrival.  If departing from Nassau then you will be processed through US passport and customs there.  Allow a lot of time especially in the high season as this can take a long time.

Water taxis shuttle continuously between Harbour Island and Eleuthera

North Eleuthera airport to Harbour Island (15 minutes)

A one mile taxi ride to the dock, 2 mile water taxi to Governorís dock on Harbour Island and another one mile taxi ride to Landfall complete your journey.  No need to reserve anything as they go back and forth all day, although it is worth reserving your taxi on Harbour Island from Landfall when you depart..  Costs at present are $5 per person for each, although youíll also need tip money for the porters who help you with your luggage.  US$ are accepted everywhere at par to the Bahamian $.  Tell your taxi driver you are going to Landfall on Queenís Highway.
